The Resonance Project is…

Their vision is inspired by ancient folk traditions ranging from Gregorian chant to music of the African diaspora, connecting audiences with timeless places.

The Resonance Project is…

Co-founded by world fusion musicians: Stephanie Heidemann (vocals) and Julian Douglas (percussion/sound designer). Their innovative and unique music vision draws from music as old as the 11th century, and global music from Africa, South America, Europe and the Middle East. TRP infuses ancient traditions with living inspiration in a style all their own.

Stephanie was awarded the Ringling Towers Award for Performing Arts by the Sarasota Arts & Cultural Alliance, is an artist in residence at the Hermitage Artist Retreat (2013/2016) and toured nationally with world music a cappella quartet- VIDA (IMG-Artists). Co-Founder, Julian Douglas is a world-class percussionist, composer and producer. His debut CD, TALAFAWA highlights this musical force at its best. This dynamic duo have shared a magnetic music partnership for over 2 decades, recently performing with the Silk Road Ensemble’s “Global Musician’s Workshop”. Joining TRP are Michael Rutherford (santoor/percussion) -a student of Pandit Nandkishor Mooley, and Robert Speed (keys) who toured nationally with New Horizons -Columbia Records. Percussionists Michael and Julian are a tour de force percussion duo in this ensemble- having received 4-stars from Modern Drummer magazine for their CD, Excursion, and collaborated with jazz musicians Greg Osby, Cory Smythe, and Kyle Quass.
